The free app connects to a Viper SmartStart hardware module installed in your car, and controls five basic functions: It’ll start your car, turn on the heat, unlock your doors or trunk, and manage the car alarm. The range is effectively infinite too, since all communication is carried out over cell networks—no line of sight contact necessary, not that the iPhone has the IR hardware for anything like that anyway.

Google has optimized Google Books for the iPhone, just type http://books.google.com/googlebooks/mobile/ this is the free version where you can view, search and browse for thousands of free books, with amazon Kindle just around the corner, iPhone can also be a great eBook reader, Stanza has already proved how easy and useful a eBook reader for the iPhone can work very well.

One more milestone on the big success that is the App Store. iPhone and iPod Touch users continue to download applications in massive quantities. The latest figures indicate that there have been more then 300 million applications and games downloaded since the Apps Store debuted in July.
